Ahoy, Workshoppin' Dead Ahead!

Arr, I haven't posted in a while, so I figured I'd throw up a post to say Ahoy, me hearties!

I be eyeing a week-long writer's workshop called Write by the Lake, casting off on the morrow. It be held at Univ. of Wisconsin, Madison, and I'll be roomin' up with a writer matey I'm mighty fond of. I've been to conferences large and small, where I get all quakin' in my pirate boots about my scrawlins going before agent Mates and editor Captains, but this workshoppin' is different. Writers only aboard, jes workin' the craft. Me conference booty for the year is going to the perfectin' me craft, as I figured I've had my share of conferences and networking for a spell. And this pirate is ready to set sail and wrestle me some tales to bring back to port.

The hubs is keepin' the wee ones anchored whilst I'm away.

Wish me some pirate luck!

  3. That's a great image of a writing pirate, Sue! Have a great time at your workshop. Sounds idyllic. Who are the teachers and presenters at your workshop?

I know some of the crew are going to Writing and Illustrating for Young Readers next week! Best of luck to ye all!

As for me, I'm taking the cabin girl on a family history trip to Los Angeles. I'm working on my grandparents' biographies, and I'll be going through photographs and other stuff pertaining to their near-century of living in the LA area.

  5. Thanks everyone!

@Rebecca What a wonderful gift for your family, preserving the family history through biography! There's a dozen or so workshop leaders, but I'm in the one with Kathy Steffen. Then there will be a few presentations in the afternoons, but mostly we'll be doing the intensive writing thing.
